We are seeking skilled Aluminum Welders and Fitters to join our client’s shipyard in Lockport, LA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and fitting aluminum components primarily used for building vessels. This role requires a strong understanding of welding techniques, blueprint reading, and mechanical assembly to ensure high-quality production in accordance with industry standards. The position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects utilizing advanced fabrication tools and techniques, contributing to the creation of durable and precise aluminum structures.

Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW welding on aluminum sheets, pipes, and fabricated components following detailed blueprints and schematics
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and ASME codes & standards to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure proper fit and finish
- Operate fabrication equipment such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, and pipe threading tools
- Conduct rigging and mechanical assembly of aluminum components using schematics and blueprint instructions
- Utilize crane operations when handling large or heavy materials safely on-site or in the shop environment
- Perform quality checks on welded joints and fabricated parts to meet industry standards and project specifications
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to construction site work, welding fumes, and equipment operation
- Collaborate with team members on projects involving sheet metal fabrication, ductwork assembly, or custom aluminum structures
Experience
- Proven experience in construction site environments or manufacturing facilities involving aluminum fabrication
- Skilled in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), plasma cutting, and related welding techniques
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, ASME codes & standards is preferred
- Hands-on experience with power tools such as press brakes, pipe threading machines, soldering equipment, and machining tools
- Mechanical knowledge including rigging, pipe fitting, sheet metal work, ductwork installation, and assembly processes
- Ability to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment is a plus
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations during fabrication processes
- Knowledge of construction safety practices related to welding and fabrication environments
